Just a $$$$ grab

to get more familys to pay the $30 for every member in family if you want to hold 10kg for each in the freezer I already have 4 paid up & would never have more than 10-15kg in the freezer give plenty away to family & neighbours, for those that travel up north will be the bigest loss after the expence to get there, accom etc, might have to take a couple dogs up with you with rbfl registered in there names for an extra 20kg of red fillets to bring home.

snappermiles's picture

you dont need a licence

to have a possesion limit though! or have they changed this???

all fishermen are liars except you and me! and im not so sure about you!!

Lastchance's picture

Thats correct. You dont need

Thats correct. You dont need a licence to have the fish in your possesion, but you need one to catch them from a boat - as you can say you caught them from shore.

Neanderthal's picture

Yes but it can be part of a

Yes but it can be part of a days bag, so an extra person allows you to get 20kgs for the return trip.  handy if its over a few days.

snappermiles's picture

its a grey area as they can fish under your licence

and catch your days bag limit so once you have caught your ten kilo then they can catch ten under your licence

all fishermen are liars except you and me! and im not so sure about you!!

not sure

Im not sure who gets the information but aparently 20kg of fish equals 100 meals. In my house that means less than 20 meals and thats not trying. In one sitting we have demeloished a 9kg pinky between three of us. Yes i do like to eat fish

Done Lureman, but not overly confident it will do any good. Dont have to do stretches to reach my ankles anymore as we seem to be continually copping it in the arse no matter what any of us do.

Nobody really beleives their dribbling shit.........do they?

You even read the paper Mick, please tell us if you have?

Just a $$$$ grab

to get more familys to pay the $30 for every member in family if you want to hold 10kg for each in the freezer I already have 4 paid up & would never have more than 10-15kg in the freezer give plenty away to family & neighbours, for those that travel up north will be the bigest loss after the expence to get there, accom etc, might have to take a couple dogs up with you with rbfl registered in there names for an extra 20kg of red fillets to bring home.

And the problem is what ? after all it does go back into the recreational fishing trust. You work it out one fishing trip , 30 bucks, 10 kilo of fillets @ 20 to 80 bucks a kilo depending on fish, ya friggn well way in Front. from just one fishing trip

If you ask me is this fair,  i will say yes it really doesnt affect us in the metro and it brings down a catch limit else where which needed to happen, does it need a tweek yes, should you push for more, a definate yes, ( especially in metro zone)

My give a fuk take on it

Wal

GOATRUTAR's picture

Sorry Wal its bullshiy just

Sorry Wal its bullshit just like the speed cameras.
My issue is their flawed data just like the crays.
They have no fucking idea.........new dart now where will it land......

Thats fine Mathew, i just

Thats fine Mathew, i just reckon the SW / N/W needed to come down a bit. so you reckon 5 quality fish isnt enough per day , as for the trip limit yeah it will need a tweak, but you have to like the idea of not sending fish down by truck , seriously this should of been done years ago

Wal

Stinga's picture

I dont

have a prob at all paying the 30 per person wal, gives me a choice of which family member is avail on a given day to head out for a bit of Fun in the boat & the new rules arnt going to have a big effect on me if any.
Might even be a deal done behind locked doors for all I know to reduce catch rates rather than have tighter sanctuarys.

New rec rules - get a submision in

Get a submission on the draft strategy for rec fishing in, guys, even if it's only doing the online one on the Recfishwest website.
A big point that's gotta be made, and made repeatedly, is that the citizens of Western Australia are the stewards of our resources, not the Dept of Fisheries or any other Government-appointed bureaucracy.  The fish are not theirs to give out as they see fit.  We pay these guys to manage the fishery on our, not their, behalf, and they are in no position to dictate our lifestyle and the circumstances under which we exercise our free and democratic right to go fishing.  Tell them that we won't wear them leap-frogging our generation in favour of future ones since that is an insult to our knowledge, experience, and natural conservationist (but not, never, the Green variety!) instincts.
Tell them that our families' and friends' health is better if they eat plenty of fish, and ask them why it is better that they buy it commercially than to accept it free of charge from us.  Ask them whether they'd prefer us to eat imported fish.  Ask them why it is immoral to accumulate fish to a 20kg possession limit which they see as unreasonable when they have no such problems accumulating as much superannuation and sick leave as they can to tide them over for when they need it.
Tell them that if they want our help to manage the fishery they've got to stop dishing out crap.  Some of their proposed cuts, which for the south coast are 33% and even 50% in some cases, are bewildering, and they haven't even identified any threat to those species which they admit are abundant.  Of course, what they're trying to do is set a ridiculously low base which they won't have to vary for 5 or more years so they can keep their paper costs down.  But rest assured, that base will never go back up, even if it is blindingly obvious to everyone that mother nature, in her usual bounteous way, moves to keep filling the gap.  She always does.
We pay these guys to do better than this.  They say that findings from a big study on rec fishing funded by income from the RFBL will be published later this year - why the hell didn't they wait for it before the slash and burn we see in the draft strategy?  It looks as though they're trying to get quick cheap runs on the board that make them look good in the eyes of the Minister and the other people who they claim asked them to review the recreational limits - wouldn't be WAFIC by any chance would it?  Or the catch-and-release guys who pat themselves on the back in front of a TV camera while the dollars roll in and the fish becomes shark bait.
Don't be satisfied guys with the encroaching nanny state.  You can see basic freedoms and room to move being reduced daily by Governments and their bureaucrats that know better than us, and who are fed by a supercilious chattering class and who employ people who quickly forget what a public servant's real job is - to serve the public.  Tell them that we are CITIZENS, and along with citizenship comes inalienable rights.  It is the love for citizenship and those rights that are reflected in heroes like Ben Roberts-Smith.  No bureaucrat there!
It's a bit of a concern that our submissions have to go through two filters before they reach the Minister - Recfishwest and the Dept of Fisheries.  So make your message loud and clear, so that any sanitisation and collation doesn't dilute it.  To any Recfishwest personnel who might read this - we know you're funded by the Government, but we sure as hell want you to carry our message forward, warts and all.
Stop pissing in eack others pockets guys, and get on with it.

Hey Zekamaboy can you please

Hey Zekamaboy can you please outline what you dont agree with  in the draft so we can discuss it. I am not having a go just trying to see where ya coming from thats all

Wal

Reply to Wal

If you can't see where I'm coming from from what I said, Wal, I can't help you.  No offence, but my submission is in, and any further discussions will be with Recfishwest or Fisheries.
Readers are totally free to take or leave what I wrote.
