Broome, Fitzroy river + exmouth trip advice please guys

zeolio's picture

Hey guys leaving on thursday for 2 weeks fishing in broome, the fitzroy river, exmouth and anything in between. Havine been scouring all forums for hints and tips like a mad man. I realise possibly not the greatest time to get a barra, but that'd be the main goal. Other than that 2weeks of no kids, missus, bills and general rat race pretty much feels/looks like ive died and gone to heaven
Taking up a well kitted out 4x4 + 4.2m tinny, have got a good selection of hardbodies( accumulated over years + bought after night & nights of reading) and a big selection of soft plastics, beeen practising my knots so much even my 6 year old can whip out a fair bimini now! Feeling pretty prepared but.......Just wondering if anyone up there or recently returned could throw any tips, pointers, reports and especially advice on what/where NOT to go or do.
Cheers guys

Depending on how much water

Depending on how much water is in the river Myroodah crossing on the Fitzroy is a nice camp spot. Can launch a tinnie from the crossing if there is plenty of water. Get deep holes there and I managed to pull a barra from a deep fresh water pool in June a few years back

Barra are a sucker for pop

Barra are a sucker for pop eye mullet so get yourself a throw net if you don't have one.

Creeks around Broome are good for a fish but a little to cold for barra.

cheers for the replies guys, bummer we couldnt get up earlier but a family and that damn thing called work just kept getting in the way. Will give it a good shake though and have got plenty of other gear on hand to chase some other toothy critters. Kinda gonna be a recon mission for a trip next year too, other the reading in the world is no substitute for miles in the legs & seeing it 1st hand. Ill be sure to let u know how it pans out
