Blue on the straight hook...

Finaly got out diving and had a fantastic day at the west end. Shot this fella, a 15kg blue grouper, I also shot a couple of nice queen snapper, 1 pinkie and missed a spaniard but there were a few around. There was also a lot of big YTK's about but they are sneaky fuckers and they stay just out of range.... I suppose they don't get big from being too stupid!!
I also by complete chance happened to find Shark Cave, or if not the shark cave- then it was a feken big cave and there was a 2m Grey Nurse in there and a 2.5m Wobby who got a bit friendly so I had to give him a poke in the nose... I got a bit of footage on my mates gopro. I will try to put it on youtube when I get it from him. Saw the odd cray but they were backed right up out of reach so still no crays this season....

yellowtail kings

my old man used to do heaps of freediving and he reckons the best way to spear them is not to chase them, go away from them , sometimes round a reef if ones there and rattle your bridle against your gun and they will come and see whats going on then BANG! your dead,i have never tried it but worth a go i guess
